Rick Cronin Memorial Fund

Rick Cronin was an incredible husband, father, brother, friend, and “Papa.” On April 25, 2016, at the age of 60, Rick passed away from a heroic nine month battle with pancreatic cancer. This fund is a tribute to Rick’s brave fight and donations will be used to ease the many burdens that cancer patients endure, as well as aid the research necessary to help others avoid this terrible disease.

An all-around sportsman, Rick was an avid golfer, hockey player and fisherman. Born and raised in Brookline, Massachusetts, he was a passionate Boston sports fan (with the exception of baseball where he devotedly supported his son-in-law David’s teams). Rick was gifted with a sense of adventure, always looking to take on new challenges. From growing up exploring with his brothers and sisters, to raising his children and teaching them the ways of the world, to playing and traveling with his grandchildren, Rick was a family man whom everyone looked up to.

Throughout his life, Rick was also known as an incredibly hard worker. He worked from the age of 14 until the day of his cancer diagnosis. Rick took a lot of pride in his work and if he did a job, he did it right. He was the definition of strong both mentally and physically. And he never complained, not even after he was diagnosed.

It’s hard to describe the void Rick has left in this world. He was a man who everyone was always glad to see. The type of man who many referred to as their “best friend.” A man who would go to the end of the earth for his family. A man who would give anyone the shirt off his back. A man who brought out the best in us all. Rick was honored, loved, and appreciated more than words. Rick will be deeply missed and we are honored to keep his memory alive with this fund.
