Tiffany Mogenson was a spirited woman and a talented dancer who wished for nothing more than to share her passion with others. When her mother couldn’t keep her out of her sister’s dance class at the age of 2, Tiffany began dancing and never stopped. She went on to dance around the world, traveling with her dance studio to many places from California to New York, and even Russia. When she graduated high school, she went to the University of Missouri, where she continued to dance as a part of the Golden Girls dance team. Returning to her hometown after college, she danced as a professional cheerleader with the Kansas City Chiefs, and went on to be a director of the Fillies Spirit Squad for the hockey team the Missouri Mavericks.
Accomplished as she was, her proudest dance success was opening her dance studio, The Pointe, in 2008. There she could teach others to love dance the way she always had. Her motto for her dancers was always, “Dance like no one is watching,” encouraging them to dance with their heart and soul. Within only five years, she had built the studio into a large dance family and formed a competition team that was successful at both regional and national competitions. Through her dance studio, Tiffany touched the lives of many young dancers, and she wanted to ensure that anyone who wanted to learn to dance could have the opportunity.
In 2013, at the age of only 30, Tiffany was killed in a tragic car accident, and soon after, her dancers adopted the motto, “Dance like Tiffany is watching.” With this Memorial Scholarship Fund, Tiffany’s wish for everyone to have an opportunity to dance can live on. The fund will award scholarships to dancers who need financial assistance to further their dance education and participate in dance related endeavors.
