On September 02, 2018 just a few days shy of her 22nd birthday my beautiful daughter lost her life in a vehicle collision. A beautiful colorful soul was taken from us too soon. She had a vibrant character, she lit up rooms when she walked in, she made friends with whoever crossed her path. Dacia was never shy to speak her mind and or walk away from “drama” as she would say it. Those people that ever had an encounter with her will never forget her (so I’ve been told).
She loved to travel, and take long distance road trips, nothing got in her way of that adventurousness in her. She loved trying new things. She was fearless and she lived her life exactly how she wanted to.
She was family oriented growing up with a big close-knit family, both her parents, step father, grandparents, aunts and uncles and many cousins that loved her dearly. Dacia always wanted to help people, especially children—they were drawn to her automatically. After high school she applied for the borderlands Americorp program, there she acquired many skills that only added to her calling in working with kids, she was a tutor through the program and privately as well. On her second year she moved on to the high school, they were older kids so she did not know what to expect but she fit in perfectly, she really loved ‘her kids’ as she would call them. Her memory, her smile, her laughter, her light will forever remain in our hearts
Our mission is to provide financial assistance to college-bound students through scholarships. all while carrying out the legacy of an ever-so-vibrant, bright, intelligent, young girl that left us too soon. her efforts, while she was still with us, were geared towards tutoring students in multiple subjects and helping them excel. She was also actively involved in various community events as a member of the borderlands Americorp program. In her spare time, she individually tutored elementary-aged children. She worked with both elementary and high school level students, her name was Dacia Alina Elias. With the help of her devoted family, friends and donors we intend to carry out her legacy with vision, love, compassion and transparency. Although she is gone her spirit and light will forever remain in our hearts.
