Mandy Pais Memorial Fund

Mandy Pais suffered from treatment-resistant depression, anxiety, and anhedonia.  Even in the latter days of her illness, she remained concerned about the well-being of others facing the same battle.  We had multiple conversations that she was still falling through the cracks of the health care system despite having the advantage of having the assistance of others.  She was especially concerned about those who did not have family or friends advocate for them or know how to advocate.  One of her last requests of me before she died from suicide was to start a memorial fund for mental health in her name.  While the area targeted by the fund to address mental health issues may change over time, an initial focus has been selected.

After considering the challenges with her care and what can be accomplished with the funds raised, I have decided to focus on helping to develop resources that can be used by friends and families to assist their loved ones by advocating for the best mental health care that is available. Currently, there are limited resources available to guide people on how to navigate the health care system and to advocate for care for their loved ones.  By utilizing the funds raised through this memorial fund, grants can be issued to established non-profits to develop new resources.

The intention of this fund to continue Mandy’s legacy of always trying to help others.
