The Andrew Heylmun Legacy Memorial Fund

Established in 2021, this fund was created by friends and family to honor the memory of Andrew Heylmun, who passed away in December of 2020. The primary recipient of funds raised will be “The Andrew Heylmun Legacy Annual Scholarship” at Southern Connecticut State University. This scholarship is to honor the values and beliefs of Andrew. Potential candidates for the scholarship include incoming or current undergraduate students at SCSU who will be majoring in a program or concentration within the School of Business. The students must also maintain satisfactory academic standing as defined by the university or specific requirements of the academic program. Preference will be given to student(s) who have demonstrated University or community service.

Andrew loved life and loved the people in his life unconditionally. He was kind and humble and his faith in God was strong. Andrew believed it was not how many times you fell it was how many times you got up. Because of his tenacity he landed his dream job at Quest Diagnostics as an account executive.

Andrew loved his fraternity Beta Mu Sigma often saying how much it shaped him as a person. He was involved in and led many community service programs as well as holding a leadership role in Greek Life Council. Andrew was awarded the “Who’s Who In American Colleges and Universities” selected by faculty members his senior year at SCSU where he received his business degree.

Andrew loved his country and the opportunities it holds for everyone. He loved traveling and seeing his country. He loved being on CT shores boating and his cabin in the PA mountains. He believed in working hard for what you have and being grateful for it. He was known for his courage, kindness, generosity, positivity, and high morals standards.
