Dionna Satteson Memorial Fund

The Dionna Satteson Memorial Fund was established to honor the life of Dionna Satteson.  The goal of the fund is to assist individuals, athletes, students, and organizations in and around the community of Montgomery, PA, that were important to Dionna.

Dionna Jordyn Satteson was born on August 15, 1998.  Tragically, Dionna was in a fatal car accident on March 2, 2015 during her junior year of high school when she was just 16 years old.

Dionna attended Montgomery Area High School in Montgomery, PA where she was an honor student and talented athlete.  She participated in softball, tennis, track & field, soccer, and basketball. In her high school athletic career, she was most recognized as a Montgomery Lady Raider basketball player.  Dionna was tall, fast, athletic, and aggressive which made her a force on the court. Her performance and endurance earned her the nickname of “Diesel” from her coaches.

Dionna embraced athletic competition by connecting with teammates, coaches, opponents, and officials in positive ways.  She was inducted into the Montgomery Athletic Hall of Fame in October of 2015 which would have been her senior year. In December of 2018, the Montgomery Area School District held the inaugural Dionna Satteson Memorial Basketball Tournament in her honor.

Most importantly, Dionna was an exceptional person.  She had the gift of making those around her better, not just in sports, but also in life.  Dionna had the most beautiful, radiant, and welcoming smile. She was funny, witty, adventurous, and could be quite the prankster.  She was extremely kind, caring, and compassionate. Dionna loved her family, friends, and life whole heartedly. She was a best friend and role model to many, always complimenting, supporting, and encouraging others.

On Monday evening, March 2, 2015, our world stopped, and our lives were changed forever.  During the difficult time of our devastating loss, we were in awe at the realization of just how many people Dionna touched.  It was evident from the overwhelming love and support we received from family, friends, the school and community and for that we are so grateful.

Dionna is survived by her mother, Sherry Satteson, grandparents, Bart & Donna Satteson, aunts, Stacy Satteson Winters & Susan Satteson.  Dionna is also survived by her 3 younger cousins: Paige Makenzie Winters, Brielle Dionna Satteson, born just 3 weeks after Dionna’s passing, and Sawyer Barton Satteson, born 2 years after Dionna’s passing.

We love and miss Dionna dearly.  We remember her every day. We strive to live the best life we can, as we know she would want us to do.  The challenges we face and the choices we make shape us into who we become in life. Choose to be kind and compassionate.  Cherish every moment and live life to the fullest.
