Joseph E Fitton Memorial Fund
Joseph E. Fitton, Jr. was a loyal friend, loving son, cherished brother, and wonderful husband. He was also a brave fighter who lost his life to lung cancer at the age of 40.
Joe was diagnosed on November 17, 2008 with Stage IV lung cancer and lost his battle August 29, 2011.
He faced the cancer head on, taking all suggestions, treatments, and advice the doctors had to offer. Joe died at home after making the tough decision to not go any futher with treatment because his quality of life had deteriorated. He died on his own terms but he died without having children and without seeing many more of his dreams come true. He was only 40 years old.
Joe was a veteran of the Persian Gulf War. He was proud to defend his country when he was called upon. Joe donated his body to Science in hopes of being able to help someone else, and possibly even save somone else’s life. It’s still hard to believe that such a strong and capable person is gone at such a young age.
