Mitch Lane Memorial Hockey Scholarship

On September 11, 2017, Mitch Lane passed away after a valiant 3 ½ year battle against pancreatic cancer. When he was first diagnosed, he was given 3 to 6 months to live, but true to his hockey-strong, never-give-up attitude, he lived well beyond that time. Mitch lived life to its fullest before he was diagnosed, and he did not slow down one bit after being diagnosed. He never let cancer or chemo define him.

Hockey was an integral part of Mitch’s life as a child. His love of the game and his talent for playing it continued through high school and college, where he played for Michigan Tech and Lake Superior State University. In the past years he loved his nights playing with the men’s league, coaching his son, Zach and his teammates, and always cheering for the Toronto Maple Leafs. It seems most fitting to memorialize Mitch in a manner that acknowledges his love of hockey.

We are establishing the Mitch Lane Memorial Hockey Scholarship so that his love for the game can skate on through other youth hockey players.
