Rocker Memorial Skate Park is ‘Ramping’ Up!

Building off the success of the Rally 4 Rocker, and the amazing community support over the last 3 years, we’re raised over $100,000 so far! We have a long way to go to reach our goal, but we’ve reached the initial tipping point! The first step is Public Input on park design. Stay tuned to our FB page and website for July date announcement. Once Public Input is obtained, we can start the permitting processes with the Park District and the Town of Truckee. We have full event calendar this summer, with multiple appearances at Truckee Thursday’s, a ‘Grom’ contest (that may be expanded to two full days!), Golf for Skate and Bowl for Skate. Follow and ‘Like’ our FB page for regular updates. Our goal is to break ground Spring 2018!

BIG NEWS May 29th, 2015 – The Rocker Memorial Skatepark Project has been OFFICIALLY approved by Truckee Donner Parks & Recreation Department! They have granted us the land to build the park in honor of Rocker and are behind our project 100%, what a huge honor! Thank you Truckee skaters and skate supporters for showing up to the TDRPD Board of Directors meeting last night to show your support. Now it’s time to get to work fundraising to get this project started. Stay tuned to our site & Facebook page for upcoming events & how you can be involved!

The Rocker Memorial Skatepark WILL be built and shredded in honor of a friend of the community, Steve “Rocker” Anderson, who passed away in an avalanche on Donner Summit December 24, 2012. Skateboarding is about spending good times with friends. If Rocker’s passing could teach us something, its to spend our time where it counts, having fun with friends & sharing the joy of what we love with others. Truckee’s new skate facility will be a focus of the community Rocker was a part of, and memories of our friend will make the community bigger, better, and more fun than it ever was. Check out our first rendering of the skate park & be sure to “Like” us on Facebook to stay connected! You can also make a 100% tax-deductible donation using PayPal or by mailing a check to CharitySmith right here in Truckee, CA. Be sure to include “Rocker Memorial Skatepark” in the memo line and mail in using the address below.

From the standpoint of daily life, however, there is one thing I do know: that we are here for the sake of each other, above all, for those upon whose smile
and well-being our own happiness depends, and also for the countless unknown souls with whose fate we are connected by a bond of sympathy.
Many times a day I realize how much my own outer and inner life is built upon the labors of others, both living and dead, and how earnestly I must
exert myself in order to give in return as much as I have received and am still receiving.”
