The Shaikh Family Memorial Fund

The Shaikh Family Memorial fund was established in 2019 as a tribute to the memory of Afshan Shaikh who is a the mother of two physicians and a loving wife, grandmother, sister, and daughter.  She passed away from end stage ovarian cancer at 59 years of age after developing a malignant bowel obstruction. She had fought the cancer for 4 years, undergoing multiple surgeries and months of chemotherapy. During her last days,  she was unable to eat for 3 months, and TPN was stopped for 2 months prior to her passing.  This fund will be used as a memory of her and other Shaikh family members who have passed away.

Award Distributions

Distributions are awarded annually to organizations who participate in works that continue to benefit recipients long after the project has finished.  Examples include building schools, developing wells, and performing meaningful research.

The above Memorial Fund is established as a division of Charitysmith Nonprofit Foundation (EIN 87-0636433). All donations are tax deductible in accordance with federal tax law. Receipts for tax purposes are sent via US Mail within two weeks of donation. Please consider asking if your employer participates in a gift-matching program.
