Tiffany Alford Memorial Fund

The Tiffany L. Alford Memorial Fund is in honor of our daughter, friend and sister in Christ, Tiffany Alford who lost her battle to breast cancer on March 20, 2013.

Tiffany was a smart, vibrant, loving woman who made it her mission to live a life of purpose. She invested in others – in her family, in her friends, in her co-workers, in her godchildren and in anyone God brought into her path. There are countless stories of Tiffany’s impact on those she met along her journey in a real and meaningful way – whether it was for a lifetime or a brief moment. Her legacy is one of putting others first and investing your time, talents and heart into the lives of others.

Tiffany grew up in El Campo, Texas, a rural community south of Houston. She graduated from El Campo High School and went on to earn her Bachelors degree from Texas A&M University. Tiffany taught middle school math for two years before moving back to College Station to earn her MBA from Texas A&M. Following graduation, she took several business consulting positions in Dallas, Atlanta, and finally in Houston with Alvarez & Marsal. She enjoyed the hectic pace of her work as a consultant, the varied clients and coworkers she met during her projects, and the opportunity to travel and work in different parts of the country.

Along with her family and friends, one of Tiffany’s greatest passions was to travel. Highlights of her travels most recently included her favorite destination – New York City – as well as several international trips to Canada, Italy, and London & Paris. In all of her travels, Tiffany brought along the same contagious spirit of adventure and joy at the simplest of moments, as well as an eagerness to completely immerse herself in the local culture. She created hundreds of special memories with the loved ones with whom she traveled.

Tiffany’s life took a dramatic turn in September 2010 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. After almost 9 months of treatment, Tiffany was returned to good health and enjoyed the next year working, traveling and spending time with family & friends around the country. Sadly, in the summer of 2012 after experiencing excruciating pain in her hip and leg, Tiffany underwent several tests only to learn that her cancer had metastasized and spread to her bones. On September 11, 2012 Tiffany received the news that the cancer had also spread to five other areas of her body in her bones, as well as to her liver and lungs. After a brave battle, Tiffany lost her fight on March 20, 2013. To read about Tiffany’s journey, in her own words, go to www.caringbridge.org/visit/tiffanyalford.

Donations to the Tiffany Alford Memorial fund will be used to continue support of programs and causes that were close to Tiffany’s heart and to continue her legacy of investing in others. These programs include: a program at her local church which helps families pay for prescriptions they could not otherwise afford; a scholarship program to help high school seniors attend college; and other organizations that provide support for those battling cancer and other debilitating diseases.
